When a Car Needs More Than a Detail

Some vehicles are past the point where a standard detail helps. Cars that sat under trees for a year, inherited vehicles nobody cleaned for a decade, work trucks that have carried everything, smoked-in interiors, or a car that spent a summer with a window cracked open and now has mildew in the carpet.

These jobs need staging rather than a single pass. Odor has to be dealt with at the source before anything is sealed in. Biological growth needs treating, not perfuming. Baked-on contamination and oxidation need chemistry and time, and paint that has never been protected usually needs correction rather than a wax.

The honest part matters here more than anywhere: not everything comes back. Cracked dashboards, torn seats, permanently dyed carpet and clear coat that has already failed are outside what cleaning can fix, and knowing that before you spend money is the whole point of an assessment.

Vehicle stored or unused for a year or more
Strong lingering smoke, pet or mildew odor
Mold or mildew growth on carpets or seats
Heavy oxidation, chalky or faded paintwork
Inherited or auction vehicle of unknown history
Interior other detailers have declined to touch
What we do

What Our Restoration Detailing in Raleigh Includes

A restoration detail is scoped, not packaged. We assess the vehicle, tell you what is recoverable and what is not, then build a plan that usually runs across more than one day and treats the interior, the odor source and the paint as separate problems.

The sequencing is the skill. Cleaning before removing the odor source wastes the cleaning; sealing paint before decontaminating it locks contamination in. We work source-first so each stage holds.

Assessment and expectation setting

We inspect the interior, the paint under light and the odor source, then tell you specifically what will come back, what will improve partially and what cleaning cannot fix. You get that in plain terms before quoting, because a restoration sold on optimism ends badly for both of us.

Deep interior recovery

Full strip-out of loose items, exhaustive vacuuming including under seats and rails, multiple extraction passes on carpets and cloth, dedicated treatment for mildew and biological growth, and detailed cleaning of every vent, seam and switch. Heavily soiled interiors often need repeat passes rather than one heroic effort.

Odor treatment at the source

Odor lives in porous materials and in the ventilation system, not in the air. We clean and extract the source first, then use ozone treatment to neutralize what remains. Masking sprays are not part of this — they wear off in days and leave the original smell underneath.

Paint decontamination and correction

Wheels, arches and paint are washed, iron decontaminated, tarred and clayed. Oxidized or swirled paint is then machine polished or corrected in stages depending on what the clear coat can safely take, and protection goes on last. Trim and glass are treated as part of the same pass.

Restoration detailing has limits, and we will always name them before you spend. Cracked plastics, torn upholstery, failed clear coat and permanent dye staining need repair or replacement rather than cleaning. What we can promise is an honest scope, a staged plan, and a vehicle handed back in the condition we said it would be. Here is how it runs.

Why us

Why Raleigh Trusts Divine Detailing With Restorations

We tell you what will not come back

Cracked dash, torn seats, failed clear coat and permanent staining are named before you commit. Overselling a restoration is the fastest way to disappoint someone who has already been let down.

Staged over days, not rushed

Heavily neglected vehicles need repeat extraction passes and cure time between stages. We schedule the days the car actually needs rather than forcing it into a single appointment.

Odor treated at the source

Source cleaning, extraction and ozone rather than fragrance. Masking sprays fade within days and leave the original smoke or mildew smell exactly where it was.

Nothing added without your call

If we find something during the work that changes the scope, we stop and call you with the options and cost. No surprise line items appear on the invoice at the end.

Step by step

What to Expect During Your Restoration Detail

1

Send the worst photos

Photos of the carpets, seats, headliner and paint let us judge scope. For heavy jobs we usually want to see the vehicle in person before quoting.

2

Scope and honest assessment

We tell you what recovers fully, what improves partially and what cleaning cannot fix, then price a staged plan with the number of days involved.

3

Interior recovery and odor work

Strip out, exhaustive vacuum, repeat extraction passes, mildew treatment, then ozone once the source is clean so odor is neutralized rather than covered.

4

Paint stage and handover

Decontamination, polishing or correction as the clear coat allows, protection applied, then a full walk-around with you against the scope we agreed.

Pricing

How Much Does Restoration Detailing Cost in Raleigh?

Restoration pricing varies more than any other service we offer, because the vehicles do. The drivers are how long the neglect has run, whether there is biological growth, whether odor treatment is needed, how much of the interior needs repeat extraction passes, the state of the paint, and how many days the plan takes.

For that reason we quote after seeing the vehicle rather than from photos alone on heavy jobs. The quote sets out the stages and what each one includes, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and where the hours go. Nothing is added mid-job without a call to you first.

It does not include repair or replacement work — upholstery repair, dash replacement, respray or headliner re-glue are trades outside detailing, and we will tell you when that is what a vehicle actually needs. In some cases we will advise that a standard full detail is enough and save you the restoration cost entirely.

Questions

Full Car Restoration FAQ

Restoration detailing usually takes two to four days because heavily neglected interiors need repeat extraction passes, odor treatment needs cure time, and paint stages cannot be rushed. We tell you the number of days when we quote, and we would rather book the time honestly than hand back a half-finished car.

Restoration detailing is quoted after we see the vehicle, because the range is genuinely wide and depends on neglect level, odor, biological growth and paint condition. The quote breaks down the stages so you can see where the hours go, and nothing is added mid-job without calling you first.

If the car has been stored, inherited, smoked in, or has visible mold, strong lingering odor or chalky oxidized paint, restoration detailing is the right service. If it is simply dirty and overdue, a standard full detail will handle it for less. We will tell you which after seeing photos.

No. Restoration detailing is a multi-day service by nature, so it is booked in advance around bay availability. Call 919-939-3930 to arrange an assessment and we will schedule the block of days your vehicle needs rather than starting something we cannot finish properly.

Usually, yes. Restoration detailing treats odor at the source — cleaning and extracting the porous materials holding the smoke, addressing the ventilation system, then using ozone to neutralize what remains. Very long-term smoking in a vehicle can leave residual odor in materials that cannot be extracted, and we will say so if we suspect it.

No. Restoration detailing is deep cleaning, odor treatment and paint work, not repair. Cracked plastics, torn upholstery, failed headliners and dyed-through carpet staining need trim or upholstery repair. We identify those during the assessment so you know what will still be there when we are finished.

Often, but not always. If the oxidation sits in the clear coat, machine correction during restoration detailing will bring the color back. If the clear coat has already failed and is peeling or flaking, no amount of polishing helps and the panel needs refinishing. We check depth before making any promises.

Yes, that is much of what restoration detailing is. Stored vehicles typically arrive with mildew, dust bonded to interior surfaces, heavily contaminated paint and stale odor. Each of those is handled as its own stage. Send photos or bring it by Raleigh and we will assess what is recoverable.
